holy week 2012 ilocos trip

we stayed at Saud Beach Resort in Pagudpod Beach....i think they have the best beach front in that stretch of beach.
the kids played with me and covered me with sand, julia drew a tail saying that i am a merman

julia and jana playing in the beach...they were there totally non stop unless you tell them to get out of the water.

sunset at saud beach resort, pagudpod, ilocos norte
the family picture at bangui windmills
javier just looking at the mills.....he just like running around it...
the kids saw this windmill and the loacation does have strong winds w/c can lift a girls skirt easily anytime or swipe a cap your wearing on your head
first i thought that the windmills were located in laoag but it was way up farther north, in the town called Bangui, well it was a magnificent site seeing those giant fans
behind the kids is the vast south china sea overlooking view from the oldest lighthouse in the country

we stopped by the town's welcome ark of burgos town well the kids just have to have their picture taken....
on our way to Pagudpod we stopped by the famous lighthouse located at burgos town.  it is the oldest lighthouse in the philippines
after seeing the sand dunes, it was time to proceed to pagudpod for the beach, but before going we had lunch at La preciosa restaurant, a popular place there...as usual we had the usual bagnet with KSL, pochi-pochi, and refreshed ourselves with their nice iced tea and to top it all had carrot cake which tastes so good we have to buy and bring it to pagudpod beach.

Easter Sunday, woke up early to hear mass at Loaog Cathedral and checked out at the hotel and Babes posed in front of the hotel.  We proceeded to Laoag Cathedral for easter mass and also beside the cathedral is the sinking bell tower, La Paz sand dunes is also just outside of laoag so we drove there and to see the sand dunes...when we got there it was so blazing hot and there were some teens doing sand boarding and a group of 4x4 enthusiasts that rents out their rigs to go around the dunes.
for dinner we ordered pochi-pochi (pronounced "puki") pizza, its made of eggplant, onion and egg sauteed then topped on a pizza dough....its a vigan delicacy with a twist/fusion it with a italian touch
this is balai de blas, got a 1 bedroom suite.  the room has its own kitchen and sala...you can bring some food and cook there.

it was around 8pm when we reached laoag, ilocos norte....everybody was so tired so...stayed at balai de blas, a pension hotel in laoag
went to father burgos museum but unfortunately it was closed, just posed outside for photo op nalang. we left vigan late afternoon and proceeded to laoag, ilocos norte to spend the night there and have some rest...almost drove the whole day and if not driving we were walking to enjoy the sceneries in vigan.

this is plaza burgos, vigan is also the birthplace of filipino hero Padre Jose Burgos, well there is a monument dedicated to him and the kids just covered the Padre word and claimed it theirs...hehehe....since all their names starts with a "J" Burgos.
around the plaza
after having a traditional vigan lunch went to have a walk at the world heritage crisologo street which is a long stretch of century old houses turned into shops.  also the pavement of the streets are still in bricks which really made us feel how it was during the spanish era....then went into the plaza burgos and the vigan cathedral
we are at the popular place, Cafe Leona, a restaurant located along the famous Crisologo street in Vigan, and we ordered the popular vigan dishes, pakbet, bagnet, and vigan longganisa.  its so funny, Julia noticed that the table cloth of the restaurant is the same as their uniform in school...LOL
